About OBY Afrika

OBY Afrika is a dynamic and innovative creative agency that specializes in delivering compelling content and creative solutions for a diverse range of clients. We pride ourselves on our ability to blend creativity with strategy, producing work that not only captivates but also drives results.

Job Overview

OBY Afrika is seeking an experienced caterer to manage an exclusive embassy event on December 4th at Karura Forest, Nairobi, with approximately 250 guests expected. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a seamless dining experience with a focus on delivering a variety of expertly prepared canapés and bitings throughout the evening, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Given the venue’s lack of a kitchen, the ideal catering partner must be equipped to bring in all necessary kitchen setup and equipment, or offer innovative workarounds to ensure high-quality service while managing costs. This is a unique opportunity for a team skilled in providing both logistical support and culinary excellence in an outdoor setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage a team of 20 wait staff, stewards, and 4 chefs for smooth service delivery.
  • Provide all required equipment, crockery, and cutlery for a fully functional outdoor catering operation.
  • Ensure high standards of food preparation, presentation, and guest satisfaction, with a strong emphasis on creating visually appealing and delicious canapés.
  • Source fresh, high-quality ingredients and groceries to deliver an exceptional culinary experience.
  • Oversee setup, service flow, and teardown with efficiency, considering the logistical challenges of an outdoor environment.
  • Work closely with event organizers to adapt and finalize menu selections to align with the embassy’s expectations and the ambiance of the event.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience catering for high-profile or large-scale events, preferably in outdoor venues.
  • A reliable and professional team of chefs, wait staff, and support personnel with experience in upscale service.
  • Proven capability in sourcing, preparing, and serving a wide array of canapés and bitings to meet diverse guest preferences.
  • Expertise in portable kitchen setup or alternative solutions for venues lacking on-site kitchens.
  • Attention to detail, creativity, and adaptability, with strong organizational skills to manage logistics effectively.

Application

Interested catering businesses should submit a detailed proposal, including a preliminary quote covering staff, equipment, ingredients, and any additional requirements for a full-service, high-caliber dining experience.
