<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Participate in intensive training on qualitative methods including focus group discussions FGDs, pile sorting, seasonal calendars, and participatory rural appraisal PRA tools.</li> <li>Facilitate and document FGDs with diverse groups e.g., mothers, grandmothers, fathers.</li> <li>Visit homes to learn and collaborate with caregivers to identify local, feasible complementary feeding solutions.</li> <li>Translate and transcribe interviews from Samburu, Kiswahili to English.</li> <li>Qualitative coding and analysis support.</li> <li>Maintain accurate field notes and ensure high-quality recordings.</li> <li>Ensure ethical standards in handling of participants and information.</li> <li>Work collaboratively with the team lead and transcription supervisor.</li> <li>Any other duties assigned by the Team leader or Supervisor</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications and skills required:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Minimum Diploma in Nutrition, Sociology, Anthropology, or related fields.</li> <li>Experience conducting in-depth interviews IDIs, focus group discussions FGDs, or key informant interviews KIIs.</li> <li>Basic experience with qualitative coding frameworks thematic, inductive, deductive.</li> <li>Ability to work systematically and follow coding guidelines.</li> <li>Fluent in English, Kiswahili, and the local Samburu dialect.</li> <li>Good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.</li> <li>Ability to translate accurately and contextually, while considering cultural nuances.</li> <li>Familiarity with transcription software is an added advantage.</li> <li>Demonstrated understanding of cultural sensitivity and respect for local norms.</li> <li>Willingness to learn local solutions from families.</li> <li>Familiarity with qualitative analysis software NVivo, Atlas.ti, Dedoose preferred.</li> <li>Prior research or fieldwork experience in maternal and child health, nutrition, or community-based studies is an added asset.</li> <li>Must be fully available during the training and fieldwork periods.</li> <li>Preference will be given to individuals from Samburu County.</li> </ul>
