About the Role

We are seeking a Client Account Manager to serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of small business clients. This role owns client relationships and deadlines while coordinating work across our internal bookkeeping, payroll, and sales tax teams.

You’ll act as the face of a full-charge bookkeeping team for one to two larger, more complex clients, while managing recurring work for a small number of lower-touch clients. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys client communication, accountability, and working collaboratively in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for assigned clients
  • Own deadlines and follow up with internal teams and clients to ensure timely completion of work
  • Coordinate onboarding and cleanup as needed
  • Review financials and flag issues requiring escalation
  • Prepare sales tax reports for review by our sales tax specialist
  • Coordinate with clients’ CPAs or tax preparers during tax season (reports only; no tax prep or advice)
  • Support time-based billing for clients who invoice their own customers

Qualifications

  • At least two years of accounting education or an Associate’s degree in accounting (Bachelor’s preferred)
  • 1+ year experience working with multiple small business clients (3+ preferred)
  • Strong QuickBooks Online experience
  • Strong Excel skills, including data manipulation and reporting
  • Experience with accrual accounting and California sales tax/nexus
  • Background in professional services and/or creative businesses strongly preferred
  • Must be a legal resident of California and authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must pass a criminal background check

Hourly range: $32–$42, depending on experience and readiness at hire.
